Lassie (playing "Laddie") and Peter Lawford as an adult Joe Carraclough in the Lassie Come Home sequel, Son of Lassie. Laddie is so devoted to Joe that he follows the young man to his RAF post and stows away on the bomber Joe is assigned to. They crash in Norway and must elude the Nazis.
Trivia: From The Story of Lassie, Rudd Weatherwax told of sitting behind two devoted bobbysoxer Peter Lawford fans during a performance of this film. Unable to stand one more "that dumb dog is going to give him away to the Nazis!" pejoratives from the teens, Rudd hissed "Ladies, that 'dumb dog' is probably smarter than you are!' and left the movie theater. |
