Larry Wilcox, Skip Burton, Ron Hayes, and Lassie For the last two seasons of its nineteen year run, Lassie was a syndicated program, sold to any station looking for half-hour programming. It was these two years that brought Lassie back to a permanent home, the Holden Ranch, run by Garth Holden (Ron Hayes), a widower who, over the years, helped orphaned boys at his ranch, including Dale Mitchell, played by Larry Wilcox, the best friend of Garth's son, Ron (Skip Burton).

A regular character in this era was a girl named Lucy Baker, played by Pamelyn Ferdin, who suffered from, but was not conquered by deafness.
