The 2005 film Lassie went back to its roots; Lassie Come Home. This lovely-looking film was made in Ireland. While the story remains the same, however, with Joe Carraclough (Jonathan Mason) missing the collie his father must sell to make ends meet, it also includes several subplots not included in the book (such as the one involving Priscilla) and changes the setting from the Depression to the eve of World War II. Lassie was not played by a line dog descended from the original Lassie of Lassie Come Home, although Lassie #9 had a cameo.
