In the final film for MGM, The Painted Hills, also known as Lassie's Adventures in the Gold Rush and Lassie's Christmas Adventure, Lassie plays "Shep," a collie given to the young son of a gold miner's deceased partner. The miner, Jonathan, has finally struck gold, but a new partner he takes on at the mine kills him in order to have all the gold for himself. Shep relentlessly tracks down the man who killed her former master. |
