Concurrent with the final two MGM films, The Lassie Show was a fifteen-minute radio series for three years. Lassie provided the barks over the air while animal imitator Earl Keen filled in with whines and growls. The stories were anthologies; one week Lassie might play a dog accused of attacking a baby, another a faithful dog who rescues her master from drowning, and her character in the particular story did not often survive. The series was sponsored by Red Heart dog food, which advertised the series and the food with magazine ads such as this.
