The second Lassie story released in 1978 was a splashy musical-drama where Lassie is once again the pet of two orphans, Kelly (Stephanie Zimbalist) and Chris (Michael Sharrett) who live with their grandfather Clovis Mitchell (James Stewart), a vintner. An ambitious man who wants to own Mitchell's land tries to bargain with him by taking Lassie away, but she escapes his Colorado Springs estate and heads home to California.
The song "When You're Loved" from this film was nominated for an Academy Award. |
